Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Surprisingly light and diffuse nose, there are aromas of cabbage and sweet fruit, as expected, mixed with some minerals and spices; sweet in the front of the mouth, with lots of honeyed fruit and ripe flavors; but at the same time there is a lot of acidity and a touch of dryness in this wine that creates a nice balance and elegance in the mouth; long sweet finish with a strong honeyed fruit presence; a bit short at the end but at the same time filled with lots of flavor. Sweet aromatics with complex and interesting aromas, cookie dough, rich fruit, ripe lemons, but a bit faint and reticent, I would have thought more power; the wine opens with a sweet and rich flavor in the mouth of ripe fruit and laced with sweet spiciness; it then loses the balance, and becomes very citric and lemony, and the fruit seems to have dried out considerably in the wine when it is in the mouth for a while; the lemony acidity continues into the finish and the wine loses some of its early expressive qualities and finishes narrow and dry. Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Very sweet and rich aromas, almost unctuous, touches of honey, but also some mustiness in the nose; very ripe and sweet in the mouth but lacking some of the concentration that the better wines have; a bit short in the mouth; still considerable class here with nice lemon flavors, and a long elegant finish that may not be the most impressive, but is quite good. Considerable bottle variation, but the better bottles produce a sweet and very ripe nose, slightly stewed fruit, plums, prunes, with a soft, velvety set of aromas; sweet and ripe in the mouth, but with a perfumed elegance; ripe black cherries; good softened tannins; this wine is nicely focused and has a long, smooth finish with balanced fruit and a nice refined lemony finish.
