Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A lovely expression of place, with exuberant aromas of honey, beeswax, lanolin and gardenias, giving way to carnations and rosewater in the mouth. The palate is dry and almost chalky in its mineral expression. Finishes on a vanilla note. Drink now or hold several years for even more complexity.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This wine comes from the négociant side of the Muré business, which buys grapes from the hot, sunny slopes above Rouffach, south of Colmar. The exposure gives this wine a particular richness for the year, with aromas of citrus fruits and apples. It is already ready to drink.

Subtle but perfumed opening, with spiced pear, macadamia and white flower scents. The crisp palate coasts to a shortish but flavorful finish of mixed nuts and lemon. Well done. Try with fish in a lemon-butter sauce. Drink now.

Notes of botrytis add interest to an otherwise rather straightforward nose. The palate is likewise one-dimensional, but gets a charge from appealing notes of lemon rind. The wine is nicely balanced, with fresh acidity lifting the moderately concentrated palate.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A very subdued expression of the normally flamboyant Gewürztraminer grape, the opening notes are of wool and mineral. The full-bodied palate has accents of candied orange rind and toast. Good for those who can’t deny Gewürz’s ability to flatter Asian food, but who prefer a more subtle wine.

Petroleum (in a good way) and candied fruit are the opening act while peach and apricot headline on the palate. The finish is light and fres and there’s enough depth here to serve with main course salads.

A beautiful example of Alsace Riesling. Notes of honey, petrol and sweet spice invite you in to a full-bodied mouthful of minerality, honeydew and baked apple. The crisp acidity complements the inherent sweeter characteristics of the wine, bringing everything into perfect harmony. With a clean, lingering finish, this Riesling only leaves you ready for more.

Sheltered by some of the highest Vosges mountains, the Clos Rouffach, with its chalk soil, is great for Riesling. This wood-aged wine, from Riesling master René Muré, is big, ripe and powerful. It’s a great wine, very modern and polished, with a nice mineral character. Imported by Robert Kacher Imports.

Very soft, ripe, this is a gentle sparkler. White fruits dominate along with crushed almond, layered acidity and a bone-dry perfumed aftertaste.

Rich, sumptuous wine that shows weight of ripe fruit, a smooth texture and delicious peach and apple flavors. The crisp edge comes from a lemon zest burst, breaking out of the minerality.
