Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Heavily roasted, with strong, piercing aromas of hickory chips, campfire and fresh-roasted coffee. The palate keeps that baked, roasted quality while offering dense berry and plum flavors. Seems a little cooked, yet the feel is still narrow and alive. Finishes with black pepper and toast.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Gassy and funky out of the chute, with spice, licorice and aromas that hint at both richness and oak. The palate is ripe, roasted and tilts toward dark berry, plum and raisin, while the finish is round, medicinal and warming. Very much like the basic Cúa 2003 Bierzo, with a little more precision. Seems a little fat and hollow, but it makes its point.

A gaseous, barnyardy wine from several vintages ago. It’s tart and scratchy, with thin herbal flavors of red fruit and tomato. Doesn’t seem worth much these days.
