Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Offers some spice and tobacco, but also some green character. The palate is snappy and fresh, with cherry flavors. And despite some aggressive tannins, the finish is fairly positive. —M.S.

One sniff tells you this is something different, but what exactly it might be is harder to determine. The nose is spicy, if a bit stemmy, and the palate delivers some raspberry and vanilla. The finish is lean and not too forward, and ultimately it tastes little like the Pinot Noir most of us are used to. —M.S.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is quite an old wine, yet it’s still alive and kicking. The bouquet is mature, with oak and briar showing strongly. The fruit, however, is fading toward cranberry and underripe plum, while the finish is discordant: It’s fat and chewy, unlike the lean palate. —M.S.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Floral aromas lead the way, followed by some lavender. The palate, however, doesn’t keep with the program; it’s peppery and sharp, with only a dab of cherry and cranberry fruit. With its lean structure and racy acidity, this must be served with food. —M.S.
