Right off the bat, you notice the softness of the tannins. The wine floats like melted butter in the mouth, creating a nice vehicle for the pleasant blackberry flavors to coat the palate. Decent acidity and absolutely no residual sugar provide structure. This is a candy of a wine, but could use more depth.

Simple, ripe flavors of peaches and apples have the sweetness of fruit juice, and the acidity is low, making for a soft, cloying wine. There’s a rough, common feel to the tannins.

Old nose, touch of mead, butterscotch, fresh herbs and acidity dominate the aromas; sweet and nutty in the mouth with an old Burgundy flavor; greatly benefits from tine in the glass which brings out fresh lemony flavors that balance the wine; very lemony and citric finish with a sharply focused center core of acidity; good structure, but clearly past its optimum time. Odd nose, loaded with green herbs, beetroot, talcum powder and various spices; the wine is unbalanced but still has some sweet fruit in its inner core; the dominant flavor is blackberry and black currant, but the wine is quite thin and a bit dry, and the sweetness is marred by a green, grassy set of flavors; this wine may be dying and past its useful life. Grassy nose, lots of green olives, spicy, lots of black fruit, intense; sweet and powerful with huge fruit flavors, very concentrated and powerful flavors; black and opaque in the mouth exhibiting the kind of concentration and focus reserved more commonly for the cults; long finish with an almost meaty character at the finish. Very ripe and rich nose, sweet aromas, black currant jam, chocolate, nice smattering of green herbs on the nose, rich and eloquent; big fruit flavors on the palate; black cherries, touch of cranberry dryness in the mouth, balanced tannins; very long and elegant finish with sweet ripe fruit, truffles, mature tannins; a poised wine with real character. A strong herbal nose with lots of green spices, touch of iodine and a bit medicinal, at the same time quite perfumed; earthy and sweet in the mouth, lots of black fruit mixed with heavy coarse tannins; earthy with lots of truffle flavors at the finish; not a particularly compelling wine, but decent for the vintage.
