Cherry fruit, with some hints of earth. The grapes are grown in the coolest part of the valley. Tannins are tight but well managed, and it is varietally correct and well made for Pinot at this price. —P.G.

The nose is forward and round, with some cheesy Burgundian scents. There is a raisiny edge to this wine, which is very ripe and drinking well right now. The finish is slight hot, and has plenty of tannin. Definitely a wine to drink young. —P.G.

Some high toned, nail polish aromas are evident, along with good forward fruit. Still the high tones—nail polish, paint, etc.—are going to be right on the edge for some people’s tolerance. —P.G.

Mint and wintergreen notes are evident, and a bit of rubbery Band-Aid. But the wine has better fruit than its siblings, showing more ripeness, a solid mid palate, and good spicy highlights.

There’s plenty of barrel all right, and the spicy, vanilla and toasted coconut flavors to prove it. The fruit is a bit dilute and slightly baked, with hints of clove.

This earthy, oaky wine carries middle of the road flavors into a short, hot, astringent finish.
