Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This Rhône-style blend is drinkable now for its immediately accessible fruit flavors of cherries and raspberries, along with spicy, leathery notes. It’s clean and dry and balanced.

From the east side of the appellation, a polished, supple wine, with easy tannins and the flavors of red and black cherries. Has interesting nuances of coffee, plums and spices, too.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The winery does a good job at presenting Syrah made Paso-style, which is to say soft and ripe and pleasant. The ’05 shows cherry, blackberry, cassis, coffee and spice flavors, with hints of toasted oak, and the finish is fully dry.

Robert Hall Syrah - 2005

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With a couple of reviewers calling this wine rich and superripe, you might expect a monster in size and weight, but it’s not, clocking in at a modest 13.9% alcohol. Bright cherry-berry flavors are accompanied by outsized tannins and what one taster felt was a touch of sweetness.

Dryish to off-dry, crisp and easy, with cherry, raspberry, rose petal, herb, vanilla and cinnamon flavors. A Rhône blend.

Robert Hall Rosé - 2008

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bit too soft and simple, although it’s a pretty good wine with some nice blackberry jam, black cherry pie and cocoa-cinnamon flavors. This is a wine in progress, better than the 2002, but not quite as good as the 2001.

Soft and juicy, with ripe blackberry, chocolate and coffee flavors that finish somewhat tannic. Ready to drink now, it’s an easy Cabernet for steaks and chops.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Lots to like in this rich, creamy Chardonnay. It has very ripe flavors of oranges, green apples and pineapples, with a touch of oak and some firm minerality. Zesty acidity provides balance.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A little thin, but pleasant enough, with cherry, raspberry and cocoa flavors and an edge of smoky leather. A Rhône blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Counoise, it’s dry and balanced.
