Made by the folks at Frankland Estate, this Shiraz contains 5% Viognier, which didn’t add the nuances that it typically does. Starts off on the nose with black and green pepper, which turns to toast and ink with some time in the glass. Inky on the palate, yes, but also a touch shrill. Imported by USA Wine West.

Nimble and understated. Pear and citrus hold the fort down on the palate, surrounded by a cloud of dust and mineral. Just as dusty on the nose. Refreshing and classy; a good opening to an upscale dinner party. Imported by USA Wine West.

Marked by fragrant plum aromas, this silky-textured wine adds cherries, anise and vanilla to the mix on the palate. It’s medium in body, but round, with a long, complex finish. A delicious Shiraz to drink over the next 2-3 years.

A bit floral and peppery, with meat and mixed berry flavors as well. Easy quaffing, and nicely complex at this price point.

A little less austere and easier to drink than many dry Aussie Rieslings, this wine features lime and vanilla shadings on the nose, and ample apple, melon and citrus flavors. It’s fullish and round, despite only 12.5% alcohol, with a long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now–2010.

It may be a bit chunky and lacking grace, but this wine still offers a mouthful of authoritative flavors, ranging from blackberry to prune and from chocolate to black olive, ending on a note of scorched coffee or chocolate.

Produced by Frankland Estate, this is a full-bodied, richly textured Riesling with aromas and flavors of honey, crushed stone and citrus. It’s surprisingly long on the finish. Imported by USA Wine West.
