Dusky, smoky notes open this dry, elegant Gewürtz. There’s not much intensity or length here, but the crush of rosewater, Asian spice and fresh grape flavors are worth the price of admission. Try with a grilled Chinese fish dish. Drink up.

Sweeter, more developed aromas of caramel, candied red apple, Boston baked beans and honeydew develop on the nose, while the mouth shows more typical Chard notes of baked apple and hazelnut butter. A touch round and flabby, but ends with a long, delicious, vanilla-kissed finish.

The nose on this red has an overly big, jammy quality, but on the palate, it’s good: Tobacco, black pepper, cherry with a slightly smoky edge. Good balance and a decent finish give it added kick.

The pretty nose of vanilla, cherry juice and spice leads to a crisp palate of cranberry and orange peel. There’s good concentration and a nice mouthfeel but a persistent note of sawdust is a bit distracting. Try with grilled meat. Drink now to 2011.

After some initial sulfur notes blew off, intense aromas of red fruit and grilled vegetables appeared. It’s a bit watery in the mouth but shows nice cherry fruit. The clipped finish winds up on a faint note of licorice. Drink now.

Overall, this elegant wine is dry with just a touch of stonefruit sweetness. Lemon yellow in color, there’s brightness throughout with ripe apricots, honey and yellow freesia on the nose. A polished minerality and orange pith bitterness help keep things in balance.

Fresh toast, wooded spice on the nose is friendly and appealing. On the palate, it works too, with its playful balance of layered spice oak and fresh acidity. The wine will appeal to fans of both oaked and unoaked Chardonnay, and will make a nice addition to the table.
