Ryan Patrick’s Reserve Cab is a round, subtle and forward wine that does not over-reach. The tangy fruit shows a mix of cassis and black raspberry fruit, then opens out into a darker mid-palate with licorice and coffee running solidly through to the finish. It’s broad and open, and falls off in the finish, suggesting that this is a wine to enjoy in its youth.

Ryan Patrick’s value-priced Bordeaux blend is 57% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cab Franc. What makes it special in this price range is that it does not over-reach; it keeps a textural, detailed, carefully blended mix of tart fruit, light spice and fresh, leafy herb. It’s clean all the way through the finish.

Soft, forward and lightly spicy, this is a pleasant, no-frills, not-too-ripe wine that qualifies as a solid choice for an everyday Chardonnay. The Naked moniker refers to the stainless-steel fermentation.
