Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Too soft and Porty, with sweet blackberry jam and chocolate flavors. There’s also a burn from high alcohol.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Shows some sharpness throughout, with an acidic tartness to the ripe blackberry and cherry flavors. It’s a Bordeaux blend from the winery’s estate vineyard.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Soft, earthy and dull. Shows sour cherry jam, tobacco, herb and peppery spice flavors that aren’t bad, but lack structure.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Smells caramelly and Porty, and tastes dry and astringent. A bitter Cab with little to recommend it.

Too Porty and raisiny, with chocolate and dried berry flavors. Seems tired. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very ripe, soft and chocolaty, in the Paso style, with blackberry and coffee flavors. Despite the softness, there’s a good dose of dusty tannins in this dry, balanced wine. It’s quite a nice, supple Merlot.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Way too overripe, sweet and hot, basically a Port-style wine. It has flavors of shrivelled blackberries, raisins and sugared currants.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Although the alcohol on this Syrah is mercifully below 14%, there’s a country-style coarseness and heat to the texture, with jagged tannins. Yet the wine is dry, with rich coffee, blackberry and currant flavors. Good now with grilled meats and poultry.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Tannic and a little overripe, with raisin and cherry flavors and and some Porty sweetness in the finish, this style of Zin will have its fans. It's definitely a hot climate wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Soft and thick, in the way of big Paso reds, this Syrah, Cabernet and Petite Sirah blend is dry and robust in blackberry, coffee, cocoa and spice flavors. It will be nice with grilled meats.
