Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Orangey aromas wrapped in not very subtle oak open this light-to-medium weight wine. Simple and a bit one-dimensional, it offers light pear flavors and a dry finish. Acceptable as an easy quaff, but not the stuff worthy of reserve designation.

Sure, cedar and chocolate are the dominant aromas and flavors, but there’s enough blueberry fruit to stand up to the oak rather nicely. It doesn’t hurt that the oak is high-quality stuff either, as the elements blend together in a harmonious whole. A little oaky, but shows a degree of finesse not often found in Chilean wines at this level.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Peachy and solid on the nose, with a pinch of oak and white pepper. The palate is generally smooth, with sweet spiced apple and pithy flavors. Banana, pith, vanilla and melon flavors work the finish, which starts out strong then breaks up on the fade.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A wine that's on the upswing compared to previous vintages. The nose is not overly oaky, with pear, guava and melon notes. It's citrusy and solid in the mouth, with linear tangerine or orange flavors and vanilla on the side. Supple and complete on the finish, with pronounced acidity.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Seems a bit overripe. The nose is soft, unctuous and overtly fruity, with a heavy melon-meets-citrus smell. Equally soft and melony on the palate, with a thick finish. Perfectly acceptable but not as precise as it should be. Imported by T.G.I.C. Importers.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Clean yet dilute on the bouquet, with touches of lime and grassiness. The palate, however, is kind of heavy and honeyed, a direct reflection of its warm Maipo roots. Tastes sweet and creamy but without much zesty fruit. Maybe a little too soft and candied, but still pretty good.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A Cab/Merlot blend that’s ripe and alluring, with easygoing but still power-packed aromatics. Flavors of cassis, black cherry and raisin are full-bore, and the chocolaty finish scores. Balanced and correct. Imported by T.G.I.C. Importers.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Crisp, with aromas of grapefruit, citrus and a touch of bitter greens. Citrus dominates the mouth as flavors of tangerine, grapefruit and orange rise to the surface. Finishes racy and zesty, with firm acid ity at the center. Imported by T.G.I.C. Importers.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Straightforward as can be, with green apple, mild citrus and other mild aromas. The palate is clean yet neutral, with a collection of white-fruit flavors and a bit of sweet melon. Finishes slightly pithy and bitter, but overall it shows no major faults or issues.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sweet and grapey, but with enough darkness and structure to rank. Blueberry and cherry aromas precede snappy cherry and raspberry fruit. Rock solid and ripe at the core, with no funk or green. What a bargain Chilean Merlot is supposed to be.
