Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A gorgeous sparkling wine that shows real Champagne quality in its dryness and creamy, yeasty complexity. Made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, it flatters the palate with lush flavors of raspberries, oranges, limes, pears, brioche, vanilla and cinnamon honey. Delicious and compelling now, this rich bubbly should develop additional bottle complexity over the next decade.

A bit angular and awkward now, with a jagged, sandpapery feeling in the mouth. But the flavors are deep and refined, suggesting baked apples, grilled pears, yeasty, smoked brioche, vanilla bean and spices. Three-quarters Pinot Noir, with the remainder Chardonnay. Really needs 3–5 years to come around, at least.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Pretty much as gorgeous as California bubbly gets. It’s dry and yeasty and rich in citrus, peach and apple flavors, with an enormously fine structure. Feels smooth as silk, clean as a whistle, with a delicate but complex mousse. Young and vibrant, with mouthwatering acidity, this Champagne-like brut should develop bottle complexity through 2013, at least.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, this bubbly is dry, elegant and will take some bottle age. It has rich and complex, but subtle, flavors of grilled peaches, pears, brioche, vanilla and smoke, with a spicy finish. Give it a few years for the edges to smooth out.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Made from 90% Pinot Noir with the balance Chardonnay, this beautifully colored bubbly shows the integrity the house of Schramsberg brings to its sparkling wines. It’s not truly dry, but the raspberry, cherry, lime, vanilla and brioche flavors are delicious.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is one of the greatest Carneros sparkling wines in memory. It feels softly crisp and creamy in the mouth, with brilliant, complex flavors of limes, raspberries and vanilla, and yeasty, oak influenced notes of brioche. There’s a richness throughout that’s hard to put into words, but the palate understands.

This 100% Chardonnay is easily the best Schramsberg blanc de blancs to date. It’s so rich and luxurious in subtle lime, peach and brioche flavors, and so refined in its beautiful silky mouthfeel, and so long in the finish, you can’t help but love it. Gorgeous now, and should hold and even improve for the next six to eight years.

Crisp and fruity, with pronounced peach, apple, quince and vanilla flavors that taste a little sweet, with a full dosage, but nicely offset by very high acidity. Finishes clean and doughy.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A beautiful, rich, elegant, fancy sparkling wine. Feels so fine in the mouth, all silk and satin, with deep, dry raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, toast, yeasty lees, brioche and honey flavors. Superb, but young. Needs time. Give it until 2011, if you can keep your hands off, and should develop until 2015, if not longer.

Mainly Pinot Noir, with some Chardonnay for brightness and citrusy zest, this brilliantly clean wine has an incredibly fierce mousse. It seems to boil in the glass, and the followup mouthfeel is as creamy and refined as any California sparkler in memory. The Pinot asserts itself in delicate touches of raspberries and strawberries. Delicious and compelling now. Try with sushi.
