Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Impressive for its minerality, this wine offers up aromas of petrol, honey and slate rather than the fruit-driven notes of many Rieslings. In the mouth, it’s like drinking liquid rocks with just enough honey to help the minerals slide down smoothly, lingering sweetly on the finish.

Filled with ripe apples, peaches and featuring some lime-like notes on the finish, this is textbook German Riesling. Clean, fresh and balanced, with a delicacy to its texture that belies its ripe succulence. Easy to drink on its own.

The fruit seems rather restrained in this medium-bodied Riesling. Instead, the emphasis is on slatey, minerally scents, backed by soft apple and citrus flavors. Imported by Chapin Cellars.

Simple apple and citrus aromas and flavors in a weightier-than-expected package. The lingering finish turns slightly sour at the end.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Petroluem product complexities abound in this fairly dry offering. Smells a bit like diesel oil—maybe even home heating oil—then takes on mineral notes akin to oil-shale deposits. It’s relatively full-bodied and viscous, a far cry (as it should be) from its Mosel Riesling cousins. —J.C.

Like your neighbor’s Saint Bernard, this is a big, friendly fellow that’s eager to please. Spiced pear and dusty sandstone aromas provide pleasure to fruit and mineral lovers alike, while the moderately sweet, low-acid flavors are easygoing and practically gulpable.

A cozy, likable wine, with gardenia, honeycomb and grapefruit themes. It’s just off-dry and has good weight and density in the mouth, though it falls a bit short. A good pick for warm weather sipping.
