Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A Rhône-inspired blend of Marsanne (40%), Roussanne (37%) and Viognier (23%), this comes across as rather broad in the mouth, but lacking depth and length. Melon, pear and almond notes make a favorable impression, and the wine finishes fresh, if somewhat simple.

Offers plenty of intensity and suppleness, but lacks a touch of freshness. Still, its dark flavors of cooked-down fruit offer enjoyment over the near term when paired with the right dish, like a savory meatloaf.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A blend of nearly equal parts Grenache and Shiraz, with 5% Viognier, the 2007 Aussie Salute shows off opening aromas of maple syrup and cedar, then opens up to show more cherry scents. It’s medium-bodied and rather loosely knit, with fruity cherry and cedar flavors destined for early consumption.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This Chardonnay from the cool-climate Adelaide Hills offers plenty to like for the price: hints of toast and vanilla frame fruit that ranges from grilled peaches and pears to ripe melons. Round without being overly rich, this could be served as an apéritif, or with chicken or fish dishes.

Apple and citrus notes dominate this medium-bodied, refreshing blend of Riesling (37%), Viognier (32%), Verdelho (21%), Chardonnay (5%) and Sauvignon Blanc (5%). It suits its purpose to a T, being an everyday white you can come back to glass after glass without becoming bored or jaded. Drink now.

The prominent eucalyptus and cinnamon notes in this Shiraz give it a slightly medicinal edge, although the plummy flavors and creamy texture make a much more positive impression. Drink now.

A blend of Shiraz (70%), Grenache (25%) and Viognier (5%), this is a lush, weighty red imbued with earthy flavors of espresso, olives and dark-skinned plums that linger on the finish. The creamy texture makes it go down easy; pair it with grilled or roasted meats.

Melon and pineapple fruit flavors offer something a little different from other white varieties, and while the wine is full and round in the mouth, it remains focused on the finish, a touch of honey balanced by citrusy notes. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Has golden aromas and flavors—think golden apples and raisins. It’s not very lively in the mouth, but is a fine, everyday white. A blend of Verdelho, Viognier, Sauvignon and Riesling.
