A complex, intense wine that shows its mountain roots. Aromas of lemon, anise, chocolate, mineral and wildflowers. Strong fruity, flinty flavors; racy, with enough interest that it doesn’t pall after a few sips.

Fairly light in color for Syrah, and light-bodied, too, but the flavors - currant, cherry, raspberry and earth - are pretty and rich. It’s dry. If you’re in the mood for a fairly complex, easier-drinking red, try it.

There’s lots of loveliness in this estate wine, with its perfume of lavendar and polished flavors of cherries and blackberries. It has a good structure, combining dryness with acidity and fine tannins. Loses a couple points, though, because it turns thin in the middle and doesn’t recover.

Nice aromatics on this Châteauneuf-du-Pape-inspired Rhône blend from the Sierra Foothills, the Grenache and Syrah providing the strawberry and white pepper, the Mourvèdre and Cinsault commanding more savory and leather tones. A touch out of balance on the finish.

Rustic and naive, a country style wine that will seem simple to some, but has its own charms. Filled with vibrant cherry and spice flavors, and girded with soft tannins and crisp acids, it will be good with pasta, barbecue and similar everyday fare.

Red, ripe, and juicy, a fun wine to slosh around your mouth and enjoy the berry, cherry and cola flavors. Dryish, although there’s a honeyed core of fruit swimming in a gentle wash of tannins.

This inky dark wine is mouth-numbingly tannic and earthy. It is heavy on the palate, with a deeply buried core of blackberry fruit, and is extremely dry. Tannins might soften with a little age. Best consumed with barbecue and similar rich fare.

Smells raw and jammy, offering up sharp aromas of young wild berries along with herbs, earth and less ripe green notes. This country wine is simple, fruity and dry. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre and Cinsault.
