Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Unacceptably harsh and hot with overripe raisiny flavors and charred oak notes. It’s like cheap Port with some sweetness.

A bit sharp in youthful acidity, but the jammy berry and cherry flavors are tasty, and the wine is serviceable.

Mellow and easy in the mouth, with soft tannins and gentle acids. The flavors range from blackberries to espresso, with a cough mediciney edge. Fine for everyday occasions.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Starts off with an interesting bouquet of honey, tapioca, peach, tropical fruit and vanilla, but it’s disappointingly thin and hollow in the mouth. Leaves behind a faint fruitiness and lots of acidity.

You’ll get real Cab character in this wine, with its black currant and oak flavors. It’s dry and balanced and has some real richness.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Table wines hardly get bigger in fruit than this soft, luscious wine. It’s explosive in red cherry, chocolate fudge, pecan pie and spice flavors, but seems totally dry. It would have scored higher had one taster not been bothered by some nail polish and vinegar notes.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The fruity flavors are beginning to dry out, yet there’s still some cherry-berry stuff going on. Tannins turn tough and gritty on the finish.

A pretty good everyday Chard, with peach and oak flavors and a creamy texture. Finishes a little syrupy.

A blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre, this is a lovely, polished and serious red wine. It impresses not just for the well-ripened cassis, cherry, cocoa and cedar flavors, but for the overall balance, and the smoothness of the texture.

A very nice wine that’s dry and smooth and satisfying, yet shows real layers of complexity. A blend of Syrah and Cabernet, it has interesting flavors of blackberries, currants, sweet leather, licorice and smoky oak, with a long, spicy finish. Drink now.
