Winery - Siro Pacenti

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A stunningly complete, cool-as-can-be modern wine with great color, lush plum and berry fruit, and very little of the earth and leather notes that some Brunello-istas may be seeking. However, if you like texture, sublime flavors of chocolate and charcoal, and perfectly integrated oak, this is for you. Consider drinking in 2005 or 2006.

This wine is better than many Brunellos. It offers laudable richness, excellent balance, and pure chocolate and berry flavors along with captivating spice notes. Yes, it’s another modern, chewy red from Pacenti, one that will surely please the new-age palate.

Intense black cherry, raspberry and vanilla are amplified by maple syrup, chestnut, dried red rose petal, exotic spice, plum, earth and mushroom. Supple, round and soft with a young, fresh finish and coffee cacao at the end. Imported by Michael Skurnik Wines.

Crisp, well-defined fruit is counterbalanced by vanilla and spice to form a vibrant, pleasing wine. This Brunello delivers chewy tannins and a plush mouthfeel that lasts a long time. Pair it with lamb or succulent cuts of grilled meat.

This is a gorgeous expression from Montalcino that opens with opulent and beautiful aromas of dark chocolate, ripe cherry, leather and barbecue smoke. The wine is immensely rich and succulent at its core and creamy, velvety density marks the luscious fade.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This perennial stud struts its stuff once again. Smoke, spice and red-fruit aromas are perfectly interwoven, while the wine itself flows with agile zest. Maybe it doesn’t have the layering of the amazing ’99, but it’s gargantuan on the midpalate and the finish is exotic as it deals nutmeg, marzipan, chocolate, cassis and mint. A proverbial kitchen-sink wine worthy of its reputation. Imported by Michael Skurnik Wines.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This wine sparked wide debate at the Brunello en primeur tasting because of its new, more streamlined style. Siro Pacenti’s 2004 Brunello is not the concentrated blackberry and chocolate fudge bomb of the past. It’s still a meaty, layered wine laced with pretty layers of spice, mineral and ash. But instead of black concentration, it now exhibits ruby luminosity and a fresh, menthol finish. We are impressed.

Attractive aromas of black fruit, plum, coffee and cola emerge elegantly from the nose of this solid Brunello di Montalcino. Siro Pacenti is one of the area’s most historic estates and this expression offers endurance, persistency and silky tannins.
