This is a big, intense wine that just lacks a bit of complexity and nuance. Bold blackberry fruit is framed by vanilla- and coffee-laden oak in this bruiser best suited to partnering a slab of prime porterhouse.

Shows plenty of oak upfront, offering up scents of toasted coconut, maple syrup, coffee and vanilla, but underneath lies a dense layer of sturdy earth and black olive flavors. Tannins are soft enough to suggest early drinkability, but the fruit should hold another five or more years.
