This Chardonnay is similar in flavors and texture to far more expensive bottlings, with a wealth of peaches, pears, pineapples and buttercream. For the price, it’s hard to beat.

Made in a German style, this Riesling is off-dry. Crisp, zingy acidity provides balance, and the flavors, of green apples, pineapples, honeysuckle flowers, vanilla and spices, are clean and deep.

Good price for a Cab of this elegance and complexity. It’s a dry, full-bodied wine, with proper varietal flavors of black currants and cedar. A great substitute for a more expensive Cab in this economy.

A great example of Lodi Zin, at a great price. Shows real complexity in the blackberry, cherry, mulberry, molasses, cocoa and cola flavors, accented with exotic dusty spices. For all the richness, it’s totally dry, and the alcohol level is refreshingly low.

Sharp and cutting in acidity, with jammy, tutti-fruity blackberry and cherry flavors, this Cab is totally dry. It’s ready to drink now.

Tastes almost like an Aussie Shiraz, a big, jammy but drily acidic wine that explodes in blackberry, cherry and pepper flavors. Robust and fun, a great wine to serve with barbecue or rich meat stews.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s a distinct smell of crushed, old cigarette butt to this wine. That detracts considerably from the blackberry and cherry fruit.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Shows Petite Sirah’s rustic nature, with sweet, jammy blackberry and currant flavors framed in fairly harsh tannins, although the finish is dry. Fine now with pizza, lasagna, cheeseburgers and similar comfort food.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Lots of rich, ripe black currants in this chunky wine, with other notes of leather, dark chocolate and pepper. But it has a dry, tannic bitterness to it. May be a function of youth, and could blossom unexpectedly one of these days.

Simple, soft and sweet, with buttered popcorn, buttered toast and sugared pineapple jam flavors. Nice acidity, though, and a nice creamy texture.
