Nicely balanced, this is the sort of restrained Cab Sauvignon Yarra Valley can do well, with hints of mint and eucalyptus layered over cassis fruit. The texture is creamy, the tannins smooth. It’s not as rich as the 2003, or a barrel sample of the 2006, but it’s well crafted and harmonious.

Yarra Valley is perhaps best known as Pinot Noir country, and this wine reflects the cool climate in its layers of peppery spice that gently frame black cherry and cola flavors. Peppery and clean on the finish. Drink now–2010.

Nicely fruity and softly tannic, this is a fine introduction to the Shiraz-Viognier genre. Apricot and raspberry flavors lead the way in this medium-bodied wine that’s fairly priced for the quality.

Aromas are subtle; we detected some floral, citrus and green apple aromas. Medium-weight with pear and melon flavors on the palate, it closes with a tart snap of lime.

Comes off as a slightly skinny Pinot Noir, with herbal overtones to the cherry and strawberry flavors. Still, it’s varietally true, and light enough in body to pair effectively with chicken or salmon. Drink now.

Light to medium in body, this has the silky mouthfeel of Pinot Noir to go with its crisp cherry-cranberry flavors. Hints of tomato leaf and tea start off engaging and herbal, but turn a bit drying and tannic on the finish.

A classic Aussie Chard, big in that creamy lime way, with additional flavors of peaches, figs and vanilla. It’s all boosted by very bright, crisp acidity and a steely structure. Fills the mouth with a honeyed juiciness.
