Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is an elegant, slightly restrained Pinotage that maintains the local character but offers a more palatable choice for everyday drinking. Pepper, rich berry and spice are balanced by a quiet acidity and long, rich finish. Pair with Moroccan or Indian cuisine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Light, clean and uncomplicated, the way most people like their Pinot Grigio’s, this wine still has depth. It offers great acidity and lift as well as easy-to-savor tropical fruit and citrus flavors. Despite its popularity in the U.S., Pinot Grigio is a rare find in South Africa, and winemaker Graham Knox is getting it right.

The great Pinotage debate in South Africa continues: How do you appeal to the American palate with a variety that has an eccentric, spicy and rustic edge? Stormhoek may have found the answer with this soft and friendly version, which has managed to extract the best of the variety without stripping it of its unique character. Bright and juicy with a soft, integrated spice mélange, the wine offers plum and smoke too, making it an excellent choice for grilled ribs or steak.
