Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
An elegant style of Sauvignon, but one that's also pretty austere. Has aromas of lemon curd and flavors of pear; feel is minerally and the acidity is high. A very good wine and likely a good companion to food, but may not appeal to those looking for a ripe, fruity SB.

Blackberry and vanilla flavors take on a maple character with air, but on the palate, it’s all bouncy fruit, all the time. Finishes with sweet vanilla notes. Truly an enjoyable wine, but one that doesn’t quite go deep enough to make it to the next decile. Imported by Clos Du Val Wine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s splendid bright fruit; a medley of blackberry, red cherry and plum does handsprings across the palate. The center of the wine is rich, with soft, inviting tannins leading to a lingering finish.

An elegant wine with graceful, balanced fruit centered on ripe raspberry and rounded by a hint of chocolate and coffee. The finish is long and layered, with firm tannins.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A relatively simple, fruity wine, with cassis fruit accented by hints of bright cherries and rhubarb. It’s medium-bodied, maybe even a little light in substance, with dried herb and chocolate making an appearance on the finish. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Well done Shiraz, carefully made and judiciously oaked, with vanilla and cedar accenting blackberry, plum and black olive flavors. It’s moderately tannic on the finish, where it adds some coffee-like nuances as well. Drink 2010–2018.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Distinctly uncharacteristic, this Sauvignon Blanc shows pear, banana and vanilla aromas. There’s some soft tropical fruit with hints of butter, pear and apple, but as with so many Australian Sauvignon Blancs, not enough of an acid spine to keep it lively.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Taltarni’s Brut Taché is a coppery-pink rosé with a bouquet that combines toasty, yeasty notes with assertive citrus scents, then adds on some savory, mushroomy elements. It’s even meatier and more savory on the palate, making it better suited than most sparklers to match with meat courses. Doesn’t seem likely to age further, so drink up.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
I’ve liked other Taltarni wines more than this, and many a fan will surely find this score stingy. If lifted berry fruit couched in maple syrup notes and soft tannins gets you going, this is right on the mark. This reviewer prefers more acid, and less sweetness. Imported by Clos Du Val Wine.

Brought to you by the folks at Clos Du Val, this “rosé-style” wine has a crisp cranberry and raspberry core couched in a fluffy pillow of biscuit flour. The same bready-biscuity note, plus some sour cherry, shows on the nose as well. Mouthfeel is fairly dry, with foamy mousse.
