Tapestry’s style is to blend bold fruit with ample oak, and that’s the case here, with plum and spice cake notes framed by toast and vanilla. This is a full-bodied, creamy-textured Shiraz, showing some warmth on the persistent, fruit-driven finish. Drink now-2020.

This Shiraz is sexy in its way but overdone, like a woman who's wearing entirely too much makeup. Aromas are alluring, but on the sweet side—blackberry, anise, creampuff, vanilla, sweet tart. Cocoa, carmel and raspberry flavors follow suit. Not confected or manufactured-tasting by any means, but it's a New World, modern style that just won't appeal to everyone.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Like most Tapestry offerings, this wine shows plenty of cedary and cinnamon-like oak, but the soft plum and blackberry fruit serve to provide balance. It’s full and creamy-textured in the mouth, then finishes with some warmth and a burst of tart acidity for balance. Drink now-2017.

Hints of pepper and menthol give a slightly medicinal cast to this wine’s copious berry fruit, but otherwise this wine is rock solid, delivering a dense, slightly syrupy mouthful of bold flavor. Good value.

Medium-weight with an overlying creaminess to the tart black fruit on the palate, this Cab’s nose is awash with sweet, mixed-berry aromas. The wine wants more acidity to hold it all together and give it a little spine.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This impeccably made wine boasts a rich, almost unctuous mouthfeel that beautifully complements its flavors of blackberries, dried spices, toast and vanilla. It’s delicious now, but the flavors are so young and primary it’s hard to imagine it not being even better in another year or two. Long on the finish, with echoes of oak and fruit lingering elegantly.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From vines with a minimum age of 30 years, this is a pretty accessible style of Shiraz. The nose offers jammy, bright fruit with judicious oak accents, which deepen into nice hazelnut notes. In the mouth, smooth oak overlays mixed plum fruits. A feminine wine, rather than an overstuffed, burly one.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Wood is so very prevalent here, in the forms of fresh-cut pine, caramel, oak, burnt sugar and white pepper that the lovely plum fruit sadly takes a backseat. Folks who have more tolerance for wood may find this review conservative.

Bears a passing resemblance to some Monterey (California) Chards, combining peaches with sweet corn and bright citrus, all wrapped in a coating of toasty, vanilla-scented oak. Crisp on the finish. Drink now.
