Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Earthy and meaty, with a touch of early sulfur that blows off quickly. The palate is rich and plentiful in terms of raisin, blackberry and plum. And the finish is full and forward, with some tannic power. Candied but solid, and probably in need of more aging to soften those hard tannins.

It’s the rare Amarone that demands cellaring these days, but this is definitely a candidate. Grilled black plum scents lead the way, followed by plum, prune and dark chocolate flavors. Dusty, cocoa-powder-like tannins and a small amount of sweetness should mellow in four or five years, so drink from 2010.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
At face value, this Soave Classico might seem like a simple wine. Aromas of peach, yellow fruit and mineral are straightforward and easy to read. On second consideration, however, it reveals a deeper, more complex side made evident by piquant layers of white peppercorn and frothy lime frosting.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Tedeschi’s base Amarone made with grapes from various vineyards is distinctive, unique and extremely succulent. The wine boasts chewy cherries, milky chocolate, natural rubber, raisin, pine, tar, maple syrup and black stone. In fact, there is no Amarone quite like it, especially considering the immediate, incredibly intense rush of aromas that it offers.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Tedeschi’s base Amarone is a beautiful wine with integrated flavors of spice and dark fruit that are evenly spread over its smooth, supple mouthfeel. Soft tannins and rich density make this wine a good choice for steak with creamy mushroom sauce.

Tedeschi makes a fine Recioto with firm tannins and generous aromas of black fruit, spice, cinnamon and prune. It tastes smooth and silky and offers a curious balance between natural sweetness and dense structure.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Tedeschi is one of the most respected winemaking families in Valpolicella but recently (over the past three or four years), they have adopted a much sweeter—and consequently more astringent—style of Amarone. It won’t appeal to everyone, but the wine does offer bountiful aromas of dark fruit, herbs and green peppercorn.

Tedeschi’s Ripasso offers unique aromas that recall forest berry, bramble, green spice and crushed bay leaf. It’s a succulent and slightly sweet tasting wine with bursting fruit flavors and thick, chewy density.

Grapes are dried for 30 days in order to give this Valpolicella Classico Superiore a full, concentrated and intense feel. You’ll get aromas of natural rubber, raisin, plum and prune. The wine is clean and sharp on the palate with bright fruit flavors.
