From the Umbrian holding of Tuscany’s Cecchi family, this wine opens with charred meat, leather, earth, beets and an interesting mineral dimension. Aged 16 months in barrique, its aggressive tannins will need a few years of cellar aging to soften up. Drink after 2007. Imported by Banfi Vintners.

The hot 2003 vintage has shaped a very ripe wine with aromas of dried fruit and raisin that recall Amarone. You’ll get jammy fruit, clove, rose hip, cedar and a touch of pine sap or redwood. It has thick, dense and chewy tannins.

This is a dark and spicy expression of Sagrantino from Umbria that showcases deep aromas of clove, Christmas spice and nutmeg. The fruit tones here are on the ripe, jammy side and the wine hits the palate with determined, firm tannins.
