Quite burnt in the nose, with dead-on aromas of brush fire, broccoli rabe and charred beef. The palate is infused with that same burnt quality, thus it has bitter edges that carry onto the finish. There’s a hint of life and fruit at the core, but the roasted surroundings never give way, making it virtually impossible to penetrate.

Vegetal, sharp and sulfuric in the nose, and that just doesn’t go away. Deeper down you’ll find cherry flavors and a decent finish, which makes you wonder if the offputting aromas will fade at some point down the line. But that’s a big leap of faith.
