This blend of Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Syrah and Colorino shows notes of green grass, clover and plump red fruit. This is a wine of medium structure and build with a plump cherry core and a dusty finish. Simple and genuine overall.

Full, classy and exciting from the first sniff to the last essence of the finish. Along the way is a largely flawless wine that bobs and weaves; at one moment it seems forward and modern; next, classic. Overall it’s a beauty with structure and style. The real deal in newer-style Brunello.

Emilia Nardi, daughter of Silvio Nardi, is doing all the right things at this huge estate, especially with the development of clonal selection and denser planting of the vines. Her 1997 is a modern, new wood-dominated wine, but it also shows beautifully judged ripe fruits and sweet acidity. The overall effect is of great elegance, with good long-term aging potential.

Wonderful in the nose, with snappy fruit and plenty of light but fragrant wood. The palate is nothing but red fruit, while the body is not too thick but substantive enough. It finishes smooth and easy, and it improves with airing. A perfect wine for cheeses or pasta, or with lunch.
