Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Still hard and tannic five years removed from harvest, but also loaded with deep molasses and smoked-meat aromas and flavors. This is a thick, unforgiving wine, but the cherry, cassis and black plum fruit is masculine and gritty. Best with a juicy steak or a rack of ribs.

Lemon, cream and toasty aromas are backed by flavors of melon, pineapple and banana. A typical but simple New World Chard: meaning it’s a blend of sweet fruit, light oak and modest acidity.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A saturated, deeply colored heavyweight that could win a competition for the biggest Malbec going. It’s opulent, with oak-based coconut aromas to go along with prune, maple and black cherry. Almost like Port, with blatant wood, dark fruit and large tannins. Still young and driving and entirely hedonistic.

From Tupungato, this is a very good Chardonnay that offers aromas of pear, vanilla and toasted bread. It’s almost Burgundian in style, with almond and white pepper accenting apple and mild citrus. Would be a good choice with fish or fowl.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Somewhat restrained and dark to the nose, but within there’s buried sweet fruit, leather and pepper. The mouthfeel is round, with only modest tannins making themselves felt. Finishes roasty and spicy, with proper balance and overall integration.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Prune, chocolate and tree bark can be detected on the nose. The mouth is thick and chewy, with low acidity not providing the balance to offset that richness. The finish is heavy and dark, and oddly some green flavors come through. This wine has good attributes but it’s also searching for balance. —M.S.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Starts out murky and sweaty, before showing cola, green herbs and leather. It’s a rather jumpy, scattershot wine with plum and boysenberry flavors and a grapy, flush finish. The feeling here is that Terrazas wines were more consistent and elevated a few years ago.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
More syrupy and chunky than ideal, but still a good wine with grilled meat, root beer and berry extract on the bouquet. The body seems a little baked and heavy, with molasses and raisin flavors mixing with blackberry. Finishes with melted brown sugar and soft tannins. A full, deep wine that shows a few signs of being overripe.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Getting pricey as Argentine Chard goes, this moderately rich wine has true aromas and flavors, meaning there’s some apple, pear and butter to sniff and vanilla-tinged peach and melon to taste. Not as complex or complicated as maybe it should be, but easy to like.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
For an affordable Argentine Chardonnay, this is not a bad effort. But it is a little oily and loaded down with movie popcorn and buttery aromas. Medium in depth, with candied flavors and a peppery bitterness to the finish.
