Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Earthy scents of feneel and pepper lead this distinctive Merlot from Thorntree. Young but accessible, the wine offers an appealing blend of berry, spice and dried herbs on the palate. Coluild benefit from some aging, but will pair well with duck and grilled meats.

Bright, cheerful cherry fruit leads on this approachable everyday Cab, and flavors of cherry, berry and smoke give it additional appeal. Easygoing but offering heft in the tannins and finish, the wine will pair well with game, lamb and spiced meat dishes.

This wine has a nice nose of melon, smoke and mineral, all overlaid with vanilla. Fleshy in the mouth, but with good acidity, it picks up flavors of peaches before toasty oak takes over. Imported by Cape Wine Ventures.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There is a green edge to this wine that’s otherwise dominated by black cherry, black currant leaf and fennel spice. The mouth is full and medium intense with firm tannins and a solid finish. With 15,000 cases imported, this selection should be easy to find and, at this great price, is an excellent choice for entertaining.

A little unbalanced in the mouth with soft tannins but a firm hot, alcohol streak throughout. The nose is earthy with notes of forest floor and stale coffee, but the finish veers toward confectioned sweet hard candy.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Melon and grassy aromas waft from the glass. The palate delivers plenty of green melon and crème brûlée flavors. Thefeel is a little oily. Despite its texture, there is still enough acidity to match this with plenty of foods. Imported by Cape Wine Ventures.
