Easy, simple and genuine, this bright Chianti would wash down well with a heaping plate of spaghetti and sauce. It’s a no-fuss expression with a zesty, crisp close.

Tobacco, plum and a sharp wine-vinegar note create a bouquet that’s slightly pickled, but overall it offers more positives than negatives. The palate is bright and intense, while the gutty finish packs coffee, licorice, and dried fruits in a medicinal robe.

Lots of leather, coffee and campfire aromas are followed by tart plum, cherry and hickory smoke flavors. A bit tangy, and not subtle in the least. There is also a whiff of green to the middle.

Solid and chunky, with aromas of sawdust, cinnamon and clove. Full enough, with strawberry, cherry and spice flavors. A touch tart on the finish, but with enough length and weight to push it forward. Not profound but 100% likable.

Woody and smoky, with a sweet-fruit quotient to the nose that’s a lot like red licorice. Strawberry and cherry fruit works well enough on the racy palate, while a finish of strawberry, pepper and light oak is satisfactory. Light and easy, with pronounced acidity.

Tight and complete, with raspberry fruit, some chocolate and a touch of buttery oak. Quite snappy on the finish, with a tannic shot that is reminiscent of cherry or plum skins. Textbook but entirely satisfactory.

Opens with a complex nose of cherry, plum, cocoa and leather elements that promise much. On the palate, however, it turns much more tart—even sharp—with mild cherry fruit and a light body. Finishes with modest length and a sour cranberry-herb note.
