Distant on the nose, offering only light banana and butterscotch. Simple flavors of lemon and apple are carried on a flat palate.

Neprica is an awesome blend of Negroamaro, Primitivo and Cabernet Sauvignon from southern Italy that offers an unbeatable price versus quality ratio. This rising star of Puglia would pair with meats, pasta or aged cheese and offers clean aromas of ripe fruit, spice and leather.

You cannot get better value than this. Ripe berry notes, cassis, molasses and cola serve as a preface for the thick texture and smooth density that this wine delivers to the palate. The wine is thick and succulent with smooth tannins and great length: excellent quality for this very low price.

Here’s a light and easy Chardonnay with clean mineral notes backed by dried hay, sage, stone fruit and honey. The wine has good density and length and ends on a spicy, fresh note.

This is a uniquely distinctive wine that offers notes of resin, petrol, asphalt, black olive and Graham cracker. Yes, it’s a strange combination but this is a strange wine. If you take a chance, you will be awarded with intense flavors of blackberry and granite and thick, solid tannins. The 2004 Bocca di Lupo is very different from past vintages.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Usually a consistent value wine from southern Italy, this Negroamaro-Cabernet blend offers a fully charged nose with Indian spice, iron, cherry and leather. You will also pick up an earthy or barnyard-like note that doesn’t distract too much.

Roasted and spicy up front, not unlike a good sauce or BBQ rub. The palate is big and chewy, with sweet plum, blackberry and hard-spice flavors. Plenty of clove and pepper carry the tannic, pumped-up finish. It’s 100% Negroamaro made in a modern, well-oaked style.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This new Negroamaro-based wine from Piero Antinori’s Southern Italian venture is quite the powerhouse. If you like digging into a meaty, tight, minerally red with loads of ripeness and complexity, then here’s your ticket. It’s ultra everything: black fruit, cassis, vital acidity, you name it. The finish is spectacular as it unfolds in waves. Really a super wine, drinkable now and into the near future.

How smooth is this luscious bruiser—a combination of 90% Aglianico and 10% Cab Sauvignon? Pull out the knife and fork and find out. The color is splendidly opaque, and the palate is packed with cherry, cassis, mint and menthol. The finish is chewy, with mouth-coating tannins. Very pretty and wall-to-wall in terms of structure. From Antinori’s Puglian operation.

Antinori’s Puglia estate launches a powerful rocket that rips through the mouth leaving a smoldering trail of cassis, bitter chocolate and black cherry preserves. The mouthfeel is equally intense with rounded tannins and a lingering taste of smoked ham. Imported by Remy Amerique/Premiere Wine.
