Almost stewy but not totally over the top. The nose offers more earth and oak than brightness, while the palate is herb-infused, with berry and tomato. Fairly classic in style, but not as fresh as desirable.

Smoky and savory on the nose, with saucy fruit sitting below a veil of firm oak. Runs a bit tart and racy in the mouth, where cherry and plum flavors are boosted by blazing natural acidity. Not a sour wine, but definitely crisp and racy.

Here is a fragrant and well-balanced Chianti Classico with aromas of black fruit, spice, leather and tobacco. The wine also boasts a dark concentrated color and a thick, chewy finish. Pair it with beef or veal.

Always a solid value contender, Toscolo really nailed it in 2004. This wine is clean and ripe, with familiar raspberry and strawberry aromas. It’s not heavy at all; in fact, it’s light, bright and clear, with pure cherry and raspberry flavors that are sure to please. A pizza wine to the max.

A bit lean and chemical, with earth, chocolate and blackberry aromas. Plum, berry and distant green notes define the palate. Tight and a touch bitter at the end, with coffee and cocoa. Heavily tannic.
