Light aromas of apple and pear are pleasant, probably more so than the flabby palate that carries melon and citrus flavors as well as a dose of sugar. Some lemon-lime on the finish makes it a lot like a liquid lollipop.

Dark berry fruit, toasty notes and an attractive herbaceousness mark this mid-weight offering. It has nice balance, and is less sweet than many other inexpensive Cabs. The red berry fruit and herb flavors close with even tannins.

Red-berry and herb flavors are overly enveloped by woody notes. The smooth mouthfeel and dry, even finish are positive, but the berry flavors are deeply buried.

The pineapple and Golden Delicious aromas are right on target, and are followed by apple and mildly oaky flavors. An easy texture and smooth finish with mild spice notes close this crowdpleaser.

Solid varietal character marks this perfect intro Zinfandel. Its classic berry-and-pepper profile is handsomely accented by well-utilized oak. Soft but not unstructured, it shows that peppery back-end tang that true Zinners love. Best Buy.

Simple, dry and citrusy-figgy, with a crisp dose of acids, this easy-drinking wine is a fine everyday sipper.
