This is a bright red rosé--more like a tranlucent red than a pink wine--and it even acts a little like a red wine, offering ample palate weight and grip to go with its summery flavors of fresh berries. So ripely fruity that it almost tastes a bit sweet on the finish, but it stays this side of balanced. Drink now.

A blend of Grenache (45%), Shiraz (25%), Cabernet Sauvignon (22%) and Dolcetto (8%), this quaffer shows bright raspberry and plum flavors on the palate, with just a hint of sweetness. Floral and raspberry aromas are bright and inviting on the nose. Finishes like a Cabernet, quite dry, with chalky tannins. A hit with spicy food, or as a summertime sipper.

A slightly fruitier style of Mourvèdre than most Barossa offerings, with plum and blackberry fruit leading the way, backed by cola and hints of tree bark and dusty leather. Crisp, tart berries come through on the finish.

Red fruit is spicy on the nose, and segues to lush raspberry and cherry flavors on the palate. Finishes full and dry, with red plums. Made from bush vines that were planted in the 1920s.

A very good, pleasing Cabernet with bouncy plum and black berry fruit that verges on sweet. Nose has plum, eucalyptus and mocha aromas; finishes a little woody, with more vivid plum. A straightahead, enjoyable wine.

Fruit-driven and fresh, yellow fruit on the palate takes on honey accents as well. Dressed up with bright citrus notes. 10% barrel fermented in new French oak.

Turkey Flat’s new introductory-level wine, The Turk is a blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet and Mourvèdre. Very dry in the mouth, with taut plum and cranberry fruit. An angular wine; the opposite of many far-flung fruitbombs at this price.

Juicy and pleasurable on the palate—a great mix of berries and plums, caramel and smooth tannins. The nose was a little closed when the wine was reviewed; aeration is probably in order if it’s drunk now.

From a vineyard planted in 1920, this is a rather structured Barossa Valley Grenache. Spicy and herbal on the nose, fleshed out with black cherry fruit, but turning crisp and firm on the finish.
