This is really a nice Merlot. It’s a blast of cherry marmalade, blackberry, coffee and peppery spice flavors with a rich dusting of fine tannins. Sure, it’s a little rustic, but with a steak on the barbie, who cares.

It’s Merlots like this that keep the variety so popular in America. At an affordable price, it gives upfront cherry-berry, chocolate and spice flavors, in a rich, soft texture.

Has real Monterey character in the ripe tropical fruits and zesty acidity, only the flavors are a bit thin. If you can find this wine for a few bucks less, it’s a real value.
