One sniff receives immediate prickle and a hint of fresh bell pepper offset by citrus blossom and passion fruit. All the components of excellent Sauvignon Blanc appear in this carved, sizzling wine: tangerine, orange, grapefruit and lime flavors; freshness and physique; purity and sense of place.

Opens with hard, tight, rubbery aromas of black cherry and blackberry. The palate is deep and tannic, with a vise-like grip and dark, herbal flavors of cassis, plum and berry. The finish, not surprisingly, maintains the wine's dark, rubbery, pushy character.

The first Pinot in Undurraga’s Terroir Hunter series is lean, tart and zesty, but also clean and pleasing in its own right. Tea and dried cherry aromas yield to a spunky, lean palate of sharp raspberry and orange peel flavors. Finishes light but clean, with tartness.

Thick and meaty on the nose, with aromas of cola and spice. The palate has a tight structure, some sharpness and spicy, braised-fruit and tobacco flavors. Finishes mostly in the spice zone, with dried fruits and a spot of leftover acidic bite. Good for a basic Cabernet-Carmenère blend.

Leathery and horsey on the nose, with cherry fruit and warmth. The palate has some edge and bite to it, with lean tannins in support of generic raspberry and standard herbal flavors. Quick and cleansing on the finish, with another wave of herbal flavor.

Nicely laid out, with mineral, pungent green fruit and citrus aromas making for a good opening. The palate is crisp and chalky, with lime and grapefruit flavors. Additional lemon-lime works the finish. Not complicated but nice and fresh.

Dark berry, fig, plum and licorice aromas and flavors show, but the understated fruit has to contend with a lot of oak. The palate’s full, smooth texture and interesting bacony notes have appeal.

A huge improvement from the overoaked, flawed 2007 Sibaris. This is still toasty and resiny like most Chilean Chards, but it’s also smooth and thorough in the mouth, with orange, melon, vanilla and toast flavors. Unfolds nicely on the finish; very good for Maipo Chardonnay and, as stated, a far more balanced wine than the previous vintage.

Smoky and crusty on the nose, but not that deep or dark in the mouth. The emphasis is on red fruits, freshness and pop, while the flavors are zesty and lean toward red cherry and red plum, with a spicy accent. Pepper and more spice work the finish.

Floral and smoky, with elegance and mineral components to the nose. From 60-year-old dry-farmed vineyards in Maule, this is punchy and acidic, but also full of bright cassis, red plum and cherry flavors. Creamy oak gives it a vanilla-like finish, and overall it’s more than solid but a little astringent and tart.
