Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sassy, spicy, and sporting both floral and sweet citrus characteristics, this off-dry Gewurztraminer fills the mouth with candied lemon, sweet papaya and a squirt of fresh lime. Very tasty, with a lingering, refreshing finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
From 35-year-old vines, this dark, smoky, exotically aromatic Cabernet spent 22 months in American oak, and not too surprisingly that oak influence is still being absorbed, with some rough edges. The fruit is full, lightly (and most agreeably) herbal, supple with blueberry and boysenberry dominating. Give it extra breathing time or better still another year or two in the cellar, and it will smooth out considerably.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Ripe and spicy, this is a very rich and fruity Gewürz, with moderate sweetness (1.6% residual sugar). Melon, mango, candied orange peel dominate, it’s round and tasty, without the soapy or oily quality of the variety.

100% varietal, estate-grown, and aged 20 months in French oak. The nose is dark and laced with ground coffee, earth and dried herb. It’s slightly reductive, showing a bit of rubber tire, which is slow to blow off. In the mouth there is more of the dark, licorice, earthy flavor, along with hard black cherry candy.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
These old vines were planted in 1973, producing a graceful wine that just hints at more subtle notes under the primary fruit and new oak. Mixed red berry, currant and cherry flavors run into stiff tannins; with airing it opens out, revealing the brambly wild-fruit flavors of old vines, and introducing mocha and caramel.

An unusual blend that includes 11% Aligote. It’s thick and ripe, with apricot and peach fruit wrapped in buttery oak from aging in French barrels, one third new. The wine has a wonderful midpalate presence, big and full, that leads into a finish with hints of herb as well as lush barrel flavors.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The fruit has cool- climate flavors blending sweet herbs, grass and tart, wild, mountain fruit. It’s been handled well, and offers texture and detail rather than pure power.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
If you are looking for elegant, moderate (13.7%) alcohol and old vine Cabernet flavors, here is your wine. Astringent tannins and lightly herbal, earthy undertones set the stage for the complex midpalate. No fruit dominates, but rather a mix of cranberry and rhubarb, strawberry and pomegranate, along with streaks of caramel from aging in American oak.

Thoroughly delicious. This captures a distinctive side of the grape that blends a sweet grassy herbaceousness with a lively mix of apple, lemongrass, citrus and orange peel, finished with the slightest suggestion of honey.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Pure varietal, this estate-grown Malbec from Snipes Mountain (central Yakima Valley) is deep and fascinating, with luscious plum and berry flavors accented with floral highlights. It moves gracefully across the palate, showing subtle streaks of earth, iron and a tiny whiff of the barnyard.
