Brought to the restaurant by our dining partners and followed a 98 Gevrey-Chambertin. This wine is most unusual IMO. It is almost syrupy and tastes more of licorice, tar, and tobacco, than fruit. Yet its complexity left no mistaking that it was not a "cheap" wine. A favorite of our friends, I would not buy it at half its price.
