Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There are slightly cooked aromas here of mature fruit or smoked bacon that gives this bright Morellino a saturated and rich feel. You’ll also get background aromas of crushed black pepper and clove with soft, chewy tannins.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Morellino di Scansano is an up-and-coming red wine from Southern Tuscany that is easy and fun to drink. This ruby-colored expression delivers fresh tones of cherry and red currants and it has a soothing, soft texture in the mouth thanks to one year of oak aging.

Jumpy and scattered on the nose. Shows green flavors intermixed with raspberry and cherry. Never finds its stride; previous vintages were better.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sweet, ripe and welcoming, with aromas of cherry, cotton candy and rubber. More cherry and raspberry come forward as you taste, while the finish is short and a bit tart. Pretty good, with snap, crackle and pop.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Jammy and high strung, with nice red-fruit aromas and even more zesty raspberry on the palate. Finishes chunky and fleshy, but without a ton of acidity. Flavors of cola, coffee and mocha are the end touches.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s plenty of pop to this bright, tight versatile red. Pretty full-fruited aromas rise up along with earth, leather and spice. The lively palate races with blackberry, and the finish is satisfyingly long and clean as a whistle. Youth should be served here; drinking this Sangiovese now is the way to go.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Some cool earth, leather and smoked meat aromas get this ripe, full-bodied Sangiovese going. The palate is fairly soft, a reminder of blackberry pie. And there’s plenty of unmistakable milk chocolate, too. Look at it as a tamed, rich, enjoyable red; a wine well suited to an autumn dinner.
