Nice black cherry, cracked pepper and a slight wave of perfume make the nose attractive, while the palate is bright and a touch sharp with red-fruit flavors. Cherry, red plum and gentle spice notes work the finish, and overall the wine seems honest and well made.

Ruby in color, with jammy blueberry aromas that carry along some chocolate and wintergreen. It’s a bit jagged and forward in the mouth, but the flavors of plum and raspberry are tasty and pure. With no glaring flaws, a pretty tint and solid structure, this is about all we can ask for from a $10 Garnacha from Spain.

Slightly prickly and green, but overall it’s a decent, mildly herbal Garnacha that will do the trick. Basic red-fruit flavors carry a note of tomato and leather, while the finish is generally tight and crisp.
