Deep and ripe, with smooth black-fruit aromas in front of a generous palate that deals cherry, tobacco and vanilla flavors. In terms of feel, this wine isn’t overly dense or tannic; in fact, it’s modest at the core and getting very close to peak drinkability. Best now through 2009.

One whiff reveals deep, ripe, lush black-fruit aromas, and the palate is as chunky, rich and full of berries and dark plums as the nose indicates. Like most ’03s, this is broad and a touch soft. It has just enough acid and tannin to keep it lively now and for the next year or so.

A look and a sniff confirm that this is a potent brew with full ripeness. The color is opaque and the aromas of baked fruits and bacon are staunch. One could say this makes its impression up front and then holds onto that goodwill while not improving. A jammy young wine made to drink now and into 2008.

More deep and muscular than average, with a smooth and fruity nose that settles nicely. The palate is somewhat crisp and juicy as acidity and ripe tannins drive red apple and raspberry flavors. Call it a classic, young, food-friendly Tempranillo.

Round, meaty, colorful and full of oak, chocolate and ripe fruit aromas. The palate is big and broad, with plum and boysenberry leading the troops. The mouthfeel deals some choppy tannins but all in all the wine has the right stuff, meaning it tastes fairly regal and offers a well-rounded feel.
