Clean and fruity, with a hint of smoke to the nose. Flavors of raspberry and cherry lead into a creamy, oaky finish that’s firm. Textbook and tasty.

Overloaded with resiny oak, so much so that the fruit is buried. What’s left is vanilla and a whole lot of banana. In fact, this wine tastes like the liquid version of Jell-O brand banana pudding.

What a good, affordable Chard should be. It’s soft and stable, with melon, apple and cinnamon notes to the rich but balanced palate. The finish is soft and spreads out broadly, with just hint of acidic sharpness. Mouthfilling although not particularly complex.

The bouquet is basically a sweet berry blend with touches of char and heat. The palate offers good core fruit and a sturdy structure. Full tannins and some oaky vanilla and coconut notes show up on the finish. Nice for Cab Franc, especially Chilean Cab Franc.

A one-note wine. It’s round and roasted, and it settles more toward savory than bright, fruity or lithe. The palate is on the thick side, with roasted black plum and other baked flavors. Fleshy, with a saucy, mildly herbal finish.

Citrus and tropical fruit notes are pure, powerful and provide a fine entry to the wine, which dances with melon, green tobacco, pineapple, honeydew and lime flavors. It’s big and ripe, with prickly acidity and good complexity. A nice example of Casablanca Sauvignon Blanc with all the zest and ocean influences you should expect.

A full nose of charred oak and smoky black cherry is phase one. The next level consists of dark fruit flavors and pulsing acidity, while the final act (the finish) is moderately complex, with nice chocolate and mushroom notes. Satisfying and sort of snappy.

Basic red-fruit aromas feature accents of tobacco and green herbs, while the palate is fresh and zesty due to strong natural acidity. Overall it’s a solid wine but in the final analysis it shows a bit more green character than is desirable.

A stacked wine with bold, grapey aromas that settle into blackberry. The palate is rather basic but with baked berry, chocolate and ripe raisin flavors, it’s pleasing. Best for those who favor a jammy, easygoing style.

Here’s an unusual mix of Syrah and Carignan that runs lean and racy. The nose offers more spice and leather than ripeness, while the palate is downright tangy and teetering on sharp. Freshness and power are not issues; but it might be too tangy and citrusy for anyone expecting a beefy, extracted wine.
