Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Like almost all of this winery’s wines, this Sangiovese is clean, varietally true and polished. It’s dry, with a medium-bodied silkiness and cherry, coffee and spice flavors. It’s also fairly tannic, something you’ll want to consider.

Sangiovese still isn’t a major varietal in California but wines like this push it a notch in that direction. You’ll like the pretty berry flavors, integrity of tannins and acidity and rich, dry finish. It’s a terrific food wine. You might find yourself reaching for a third glass of this pretty wine over that luxury Cabernet.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
People often say Pinot Blanc tastes like Chardonnay, but this one doesn’t. It’s all flowers and limes and roasted hazelnuts, although you’ll also find sweet green apples and pears and smoky oak influences. It’s a fine, soft, dry wine with quite a bit of appeal.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dry to the point of astringent, this is a tannic, acidic wine with cherry flavors. It really needs olive oil, hard cheese and rich meats to break it down.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Another winner from this undervalued winery. Consistent with past vintages, this one is ripely fruity, with tasty flavors of apples and peaches and a rich overlay of vanilla and smoke from oak. Crisp acidity keeps it clean and vibrant on the palate.

This is a full-bodied, heavy Chard, a bit on the soft side, with a balance of apple, dried herb and peach flavors that taste well-oaked. It’s fully dry.

This is a nice Chardonnay to drink with shellfish, particularly grilled shrimp. It’s dry and crisp in acidity, with rich pineapple, green apple and pear flavors, accented with sweet, toasty oak.
