Dark tones of black cherry and raisin are immediate and upfront but are soon followed by fresh notes of blackberry, mulberry and almond amaretto. Those pretty almond notes (the wine ages 18 months in oak casks) help flesh out a soft wine with excellent dimension and long, caressing flavors.

Here’s a vineyard-designate wine that boasts all the special characteristics you look for in quality Amarone. It’s densely concentrated and extracted, yet refined and elegant with cherry-apple, almond paste and vibrant red fruit. In the mouth, it delivers great intensity, a firm build and long-lasting persistency. It is aged 24 months in oak casks.

Gorgeous color and concentration with brilliant ruby highlights make this a beautiful wine to contemplate in the glass. The aromas are broad and far-reaching with a high mineral component, small berry fruit, spice and a distinct soapy-lavender element. Chewy, firm and succulent, it’s a mouth-watering bruiser that leaves a lasting imprint on the palate. Only 60 cases made.

Ripasso Pegrandi is a polished and squeaky clean wine with fine aromas of wild fruit, spice, natural rubber and toasted almond. It tastes crisp, tight and would make a great companion to green peppers or zucchini stuffed with rice and ground veal.

This is a decidedly oak-driven Amarone (with 18 months in barrique) that displays enticing notes of tar, warm asphalt, mesquite wood, A1 Steak Sauce and root beer. The wine boasts depth and personality and offers loads of spicy apple cinnamon flavors over the long finish.

Pegrandi exhibits a sincere and succulent personality with loads of blackberry, dried currants, oak, mineral notes and Indian spice (it is aged 25 months in wood). The wine’s mouthfeel is gritty and somewhat raw with firm tannins and a sweet cherry aftertaste.

Here’s a thick, dense ripasso with a dusty, aristocratic quality that makes the wine taste older than it really is. The wine is accented by notes of smoked bacon and beef jerky and shows very good depth and complexity overall. It’s good value too. Imported by Premium Brands.

Pegrandi is an impressive Amarone that speaks highly of the territory that shaped it. The wine delivers aromas of jammy fruit, cherry, raspberry and blackberry. But there are also sophisticated toast and spice notes that add brightness and personality. Creamy, cheesy risotto would make a perfect pairing match.

This smokey Amarone opens with woody tones of forest floor and bramble followed by savory notes of cured beef and wild mushroom. Dark fruit flavors fill in the background and the wine ends with distinct layers of leather and dried tobacco leaf.
