Bargain hunters should like this mildly medicinal Cab because it’s got raspberry and black fruit character and only minor faults, i.e. slight medicinality. Otherwise it’s fruity, steady and respectable, with good body and mouthfeel.

Standard value-priced Chilean Syrah in that it’s herbal and leafy on the nose, with a mix of olive, earth, spice and dried red fruit aromas. The palate is a bit stretched out and tannic, while the flavor profile is pure olive, herbs and dried cherry. Finishes solid but herbal.

Sweet and chunky to start, with vanilla and red fruit aromas. The flavors are raspberry and cherry, and while it’s kind of short on complexity, it more than gets the job done for $10. Clean, fresh and something you can drink without a lot of pondering.

Savory at first, with roasted aromas of beets, prune and raisin. Tastes fairly sweet for a dry Cabernet, as the mouthfeel is almost cloying and sugary. Inoffensive on the finish but flat.

The epitome of standard, drinkable Cabernet from Chile. The nose has cherry, a little stalkiness and slight herbal hints, but the feel is solid and rich, and the flavors of baked berries and cola are correct. A little soft but nice for a wine meant to be drunk young.
