Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Light, with an attractive set of aromas that include licorice, tea, wood smoke and raspberry. Flavors of cola, tea, clove, cumin and red fruit are vivid, and happen to be pretty good. And the spicy, round finish is a pleasant ending. Well made but different. Remember: This is Chilean Pinot, not Burgundy.

Piercing on the nose, with aromas of earth, tobacco, oak and ripe berry fruit. The palate is snappy, while the flavor profile is serious and contains quality cherry, blackberry and cassis flavors. Spicy on the finish and composed as a whole. Borders on elegant.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Good Chilean Chard with sweet, honeyed aromas that are pleasantly dusty and include apple and peach. The smooth palate has apple as a core flavor, while nectarine and barrel notes are present as well. Long and full on the finish; not world class but elevated if measured by local standards.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Earth, smoke, leather and raspberry make for a pretty inviting bouquet, while the palate is fresh but mellow, with mildly tangy raspberry and cherry flavors. Overall this is a pleasant, cut-the-fairway wine with touches of mocha, cinnamon and earth to ponder. 350 cases produced.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A bit sweet, confected and fluffy on the nose, especially for Syrah. And it’s definitely on the heavy side as the flavors lean toward raisin and prune and stewed plum. Finishing notes of chocolate and toast come straight from the barrel, and with such a heavy outlook it’s doubtful this one will age for long.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The color and aromas are true to both Pinot Noir and Chile’s Pinot-friendly Casablanca Valley. Dried fruit, citrus and pie cherry aromas take it toward a potpourri of red-fruit flavors. The only weakness is that the feel is a bit choppy and the finish goes heavy on the toast and woodspice. A good but imperfect effort at a more serious Chilean Pinot.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This single-estate red has a flat but peppery nose. The mouth offers cherry, raspberry and chocolate in solid, candied doses, while the finish runs sweet, with an acidic ripple keeping things lively.

Boisset, a Burgundian négociant, is involved in this Franco-Chilean joint venture, and this blend is smooth and clean, with driving berry fruit. In the mouth, cherry and raspberry notes come across as high-voltage, especially in the midpalate, but with ample spice there’s more than enough to latch on to.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Candied, sweet and strained on the nose, with blackberry, plum and fresh-laid asphalt aromas. The palate is healthy and high in acidity, but the flavors of blackberry, toast and herbs come together fairly well. Slightly warm and baked on the finish. Has its share of character, attributes and flaws.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Olive, cracked black pepper and rhubarb-like aromas lead to a generic, semisweet palate with berry and chocolate flavors. Seems a little creamy and aggressive in the mouth, with murky chocolate and leathery notes finishing things off.
