Controlled, expressive and impressive for Garnacha. Dark fruit and dark spice are the lead actors, while the supporting cast includes a lush feel and good length. Frankly this is a delicious, well-made Garnacha that pours on the black fruit and brown sugar. Dense and balanced from start to finish.

A bit sharp on the bouquet but with enough bright cherry and raspberry notes to work. There’s ample fruit on the palate but also some roughness, and the finish is juicy and lively but also sort of scratchy. A good but limited and simple Tempranillo.

Rather oily and hard on the nose, with dried cheese, brett, mint and black fruit. The palate is rich and extremely forward, and the flavors are sweet but not that substantive or complex. Chocolate and mocha on the finish are about as much carry-through as you get.

With basic pear, green melon and other sweet aromas, the nose is controlled. But the palate on this white Garnacha is dry and soda-like, with seltzer-like flavors touched up by citrus. Decent but bland. Imported by Frontier Wine Imports.

Smooth and ripe smelling, with clean berry aromas. Cherry, plum and pepper are the lead flavors, and the feel is tangy, zippy and clampy, but exceedingly fresh. Not a lot of richness, depth or body here, but it’s pure, clean wine with common appeal.

Young, jumpy and slightly candied, but that’s just fine given the price range it’s playing in. To get old-vines Garnacha for a song is not uncommon, yet this wine’s thick, fruity palate goes beyond the norm. And with a round mouthfeel built on light-framed tannins, it’s easygoing as can be. Drink now, but don’t put it under the microscope.

Sweet, ripe, rich and a little baked on the bold bouquet, with a good mouthfeel, layered blackberry and plum fruit, and then a long, robust and clean finish. As value-priced Garnacha from Spain goes, this is on the dot.
