Made in a modern, more accessible style, with a stunning nose of mocha, singed meat, roses and coffee. Earth and violets prevail in the mouth and carry over to the long finish. The refined tannin structure tempts early consumption but a few years cellaring will add to the complexity.

A super-concentrated, ruby red, New World style Barbera d’Alba tightly packed with red fruit, toast, Indian spice, coffee bean, chocolate and roasted nuts. Those super-charged flavors follow through to the mouth, where solid tannins open onto a long, toasted finish.

Sumptuous and beautiful Barolo with subtle toasted notes, forest floor, cigar box and dried berries all vying for your attention. Powerful but elegant, with soft tannins, balanced acidity and remarkable persistence. A truly amazing wine that yields generously each time you come back to it.

The potential of Piedmont’s lesser-known Dolcetto grape is unmasked in this wine’s complex aromatic profile that encompasses toast, cherry fruit and menthol-like notes. Concentrated with snap and spice in the mouth. It shows plenty of personality.

This is not an in-your-face-wine. Instead it is reserved and refined yet coquettish enough to dabble out enticing traces of candied cherry, pine resin, cigar box, forest truffles and dried mint leaves. The tannins are round and full, with a touch of perky spice.

Another excellent component of the Vietti portfolio, this elegant Barbaresco is scented by wild sage, dried mint, cigar box and rose petal. A wine capable of a long and complex evolution in the glass with clearly etched tannins over a lean body.

Vietti, which makes some of Piedmont’s most user-friendly wines across the full spectrum of price ranges, scores major points with this light-bodied, sweet frizzante. It smells of gardenias and fresh summer herbs, and it pulses with kiwi, nectarine and pineapple flavor. There’s nothing not to like about this low-alcohol (5.5%) liquid dessert—surely the perfect match for ice cream or fruit salad.

This elegant Lazarito Barolo has attractive aromas of ripe, tarry fruit and truffles. The palate has dry tannins, which overlay dark plums and figs. The fine, pure acidity gives it a sense of balance.

Vietti offers a concentrated and super rich expression of Barbaresco with solid aromas of black berry fruit and toasted oak that create a solid, almost syrupy whole. The wine is luscious and concentrated with opulent notes of dark chocolate, espresso, cured meat and licorice. It tastes fresh and succulent now and needs at least five more years of bottle aging.

Rocche is a standout wine that offers just about everything you look for in an excellent Barolo. There’s power, complexity and personality here that is enhanced by lusciously intense aromas of chocolate, allspice, blackberry, licorice and cola. It’s a beautifully healthy wine with a bright color, bold extraction, a soft finish and direct delivery. Drink in 5–10 years.
