Attractive deep dark ruby color. Slighted muted nose of black cherry and funky earthy notes. Quite extracted with ultra-ripe berry flavors, making it a little clunky on the palate. Lacking freshness and slightly one dimensional with a warm moderate length finish.

Interesting but a bit disjointed, with dark coffee and date notes, but also bright berries. Finishes with soft tannins but also crisp acidity.

A sturdy Vacqueyras, that shows the burly, muscular side of the appellation. Leather and coffee flavors predominate, backed by some firm tannins on the finish. Drink now with rare beef or lamb.

Starts with some matchstick scents, then adds aromas and flavors of coffee and prune. Good if you’re looking for dark flavors and dried fruits. Just don’t expect something racy or fresh.

Leather and coffee flavors predominate in this relatively simple Vacqueyras. Supple and somewhat innocuous, but suitable to quaff alongside basic burgers and the like.

A special cuvée from the local co-op, this Vacqueyras is showing all the signs of being mature, from its lightening color to its aromas and flavors of coffee, tobacco, and dried fruit and its resolved tannins. Drink up.

Just another competently made but ultimately innocuous wine with understated cherry flavors and a thin finish. Good but not exciting.

Not surprisingly, the local co-op’s old vines bottling is its best, with tart berry fruit accented by hints of cedar and coffee from oak aging as well as dry tannins on the finish. Try from 2008–2012.

A reliable but unexceptional source of Gigondas and Vacqueyras, this co-op has turned out a decent 2004 Gigondas with plenty of heavy plum and fruitcake flavor but low acidity. Drink now.
